Question about the Pink Floyd movie "The Wall"?

some sources say that Pink's mother was overprotective. overportective?! she left him in a park alone and she always ignored him! and the "judge" said "the way you made them suffer, your exquisite wife and MOTHER" how did he make her suffer? wasn't it the other way around? o.O
